General Updates

1. Details about trialling Monthly Email as Termly Email

Our Kids and Youth emails will be trialling a new schedule of one email per term, rather than one email per month, as it is rare that any dates change during a term. We hope that this will cut down on the emails that you need to read. We will also put all the details on our new FuTube page ‘Info & Updates’ (this page) so that you can access it quickly if you need any information during the term. Further updates are often also posted on our Facebook page, and we recommend you “liking” our page to keep in touch. If there are any major changes during a term we will of course update you via email where necessary.

Our Adult classes emails will remain monthly for now as there is often information that is updated during the term.

If you have any thoughts on this please let us know.

2. A Message from Sifu Ross

“Once you’re able to perceive your own complexity, you will be able to perceive the complexity of others and be less likely to stereotype.”

– Chloe Valdery Founder, Theory of Enchantment

We always do our best to make this event a fun & engaging experience for everyone, however it is important to understand that by its very nature we will be touching on some potentially challenging topics.

4. January Bank Holiday and February Half Term

Our classes continue as normal throughout all the School Holidays, except for the two weeks we have off at Christmas, therefore classes during the February Half Term (Monday 14th February – Friday 18th February) will be running as usual. However, during Term 1 (which runs until 26th March) please note that the following dates are Bank Holidays and therefore there will be no classes on Monday 3rd January.

If you miss a class due to a Bank Holiday or you are going to be away for Half Term you’re always welcome to make up any missed classes by attending an alternative class in the lead up to your holiday or when you return. If you would like to do this please check out the Timetable page on our website and work out which class or classes would be best for you to attend, then Contact Us at so that we can ensure there is space in the class(es) and that our Instructor Team knows you’re coming.

5. Keeping Warm at Kung Fu

COVID-19 Health and Safety Guidelines recommend that rooms are well ventilated to reduce the risk of transmission. As a result our Kids/Youth classes may be chillier than normal during Winter as we will have as many doors and windows open as possible. If your child feels the cold they may want to wear an extra layer. If you would like to buy a Cambridge Kung Fu Hoodie for yourself or your child please check out what we have available in our online CKF Shop.

If you would like to buy your child a Kung Fu Jacket to wear we have them available at class for £10 each and please just ask your Class Leader. We also have a plethora of second hand kung fu jackets and some trousers at Hill’s Road Sports and Tennis Centre. If you would like to look through the second hand stock just let an instructor know.

Kids Kung Fu

1. Grading and Celebration Week - Term 1

Grading for the Little Dragons, Junior Warriors, and Snow Leopards classes will be on Monday 7th March and through to Saturday 19th March inclusive.

Your child should attend as normal during the Grading Week as Grading takes place within their regular class, whether that be a Zoom class or a Face to Face class. Grading is always optional, if your child hasn’t been attending class regularly, please ensure they feel under no pressure to Grade. However, if they are keen to Grade then <link-“https://futube.co.uk/kids-syllabus-courses/”>FuTube</link> has all the resources they need in order to do some extra practise and preparation at home.

If this is your child’s first Grading their instructor will talk them through what will happen during the classes leading up to Grading. Please bear in mind that if your child decides not to Grade they will get a certificate but they will not get a badge. If you will be away for both your Grading Classes then please get in touch about organising an alternative class to Grade in if you wish to Grade.

Following Grading we will be having a Celebration Week during the W/C Monday 21st March.

Face to Face: If your child is in a Face to Face class they will be able to collect their Certificates as part of their normal class during Celebration Week and we will reward their hard work by playing lots of Kung Fu games.

Zoom: If your child is in a Zoom class they will receive a digital Badge and Certificate (and Score Sheet if they Graded) via email during our Celebration Week and again they will get to play lots of Kung Fu games.

The new term (Term 2) will start straight after Celebration Week from the week commencing 28th March.

2. Parent/Guardian Room at Netherhall Sports Centre

As you may be aware we have been informed by Netherhall Sports Centre that we are unable to use the room opposite the class for parents and guardians to wait. They have told us that this was a decision made by the school for data protection reasons. We are sorry that you are no longer able to use this room, we have asked if there is an alternative room available and we will let you know if we are able to provide anything for you. If you need to wait inside the building you are welcome to wait in the corridor outside the Kung Fu room or downstairs in the hall area.
